Madrak Ironhide… falls to the Dark Side.

I’ve been taking part in a journeyman tournament down at Tabletop Nation and inspired by using my starter pack once again I’ve decided to try and paint one miniature a week. Today’s attempt was at Madrak Ironhide, famed chief of the Thornwood Kriel and general badass.

Madrak is an albino, which places him squarely in the “gifted with magic” box. In spite of this he prefers more conventional warfare and loves to smash things up with Rathrok, an axe he found that has the power to save the Trollbloods from their inevitable extinction… presuming of course that it doesn’t cause it in the process.

I wanted to lean towards the darker aspect of Madrak’s character and show some of Rathrok’s corruption taking its toll on his body. I think the constrasting pale and red colours make him look a little sickly, but just as bloody and brutal as ever.

When I get the time I’m going to try and paint his armour dark colours. I like the idea of keeping it black, but at the moment it’s just too empty.
